5/23/22 JIF Peanut Butter Recall

The J.M. Smucker Company has recalled a number of JIF peanut butter products due to salmonella contamination concerns. According to the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the products are suspected of making 14 people sick leading to two hospitalizations. Those illnesses occurred in 12 different states the nearest to Wisconsin being Illinois. The CDC says the recall is for many types and sizes of JIF peanut butter including creamy, crunchy, natural, and reduced fat. They recommend throwing away the peanut butter. The recall affects lot code numbers 1274425 through 2140425, with “425” at the end of the first 7 numbers. The CDC’s website has more about the recall.
