State Schools Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly made a stop at Carl Traeger Elementary School in Oshkosh for a surprise announcement Wednesday. School Counselor Kaelee Heidemann was honored as a 2023 Teacher of the Year. FDL County Sees Spike In New COVID Cases

Fond du Lac County saw a spike in its new COVID-19 cases Wednesday with 57 new cases reported. County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says that number may seem worrisome, but she says it traces back to a specific outbreak in a segment of the population that doesn’t get out much so the threat of the new variant spread is very unlikely. She notes new COVID cases in the state have increased over the last two weeks, but the COVID level in the community remains low. She recommends residents stay vigilant about the coronavirus.

Curiosity About Mental Health Of Peters Murder Suspect

State Representative Jesse James says many teens including the 14-year-old suspected of killing 10-year-old Lily Peters could be suffering mental health issues that are going undiagnosed. James is a former Altoona Police Chief and currently is a police officer for the Village of Cadott. He says rumors flooded social media about the teen’s living environment. He says there are signs when children are having mental health issues and parents need to speak up if they see them. James who has experience as a sensitive crimes investigator says he can’t help but be curious about the teen suspect’s upbringing. A hearing in Chippewa County today will determine whether the teen will be tried for Peters’ murder as an adult.
