Washington County Chase Ends In Tragedy

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say a vehicle pursuit ended in tragedy for a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle Wednesday morning. A deputy pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 41 near Holy Hill Road in the Village of Germantown at 12:29 am. The deputy spotted a Glock handgun case on the front floorboard of the vehicle. Running a check the deputy learned the 27-year-old man driving the car was on parole for robbery with the use of force and was prohibited from having a firearm. The 18-year-old man who was a passenger had multiple felony arrests and an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy tried to get the two Milwaukee men to exit the vehicle but the driver took off. A pursuit ensued with the chase cut off when the pursuit approached the Village of Lannon. About a mile from where the chase was terminated the suspect’s vehicle crashed injuring the driver and killing the passenger. The Menominee Falls Police Department is investigating the fatal crash.

RR Crossing Closing Opposition

Officials with the Towns of Metomen and Ripon, the Village of Brandon and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department are getting out in front of a review of whether three at-grade railroad crossings should be closed. He says nothing has been decided yet, but they would like to make it know that local officials are opposed to closing the at-grade crossings on Brandon Road, Sunny Knoll, and Sheldon Roads. Jahnke says closings those crossings could affect firefighter and ambulance response and farm traffic. He says the County Board’s Highway, Airport and Facilities and Public Safety Committees could create a resolution for the County Board that would express opposition to closing those particular crossings.
