11 April 2022 News
A backlog of COVID-19 cases made Friday’s report of new cases in Wisconsin look much dire than what was actually reported. The Department of Health Services reported 1,551 new cases, but only 438 of the cases were actually new cases reported between Thursday and Friday the rest were a backlog from earlier in the year. That also caused the 7-day rolling average for new cases to spike to 568 when the number was actually closer to 423. Three deaths and 22 hospitalizations were also reported. The Wisconsin Hospital Association Friday reported 157 COVID patients in hospitals across the state with 26 in intensive care units. Both of those numbers were down from Thursday by about a half a dozen each.
Winnebago County reported 26 new cases Friday. Fond du Lac County recorded 40 new cases and 2 deaths and Dodge County had 13 new cases. Green Lake County had 7 new cases, Waupaca County had 8 new cases, and Waushara County had 4 new cases of the coronavirus.
