Sports for Wednesday

All eyes were on the Pat McAfee Show Tuesday as Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers made a much hyped appearance. However, the four-time MVP had nothing new to announce about his career.
“There will be no news today. No decision about my future,” Rodgers told viewers of the show. He said it wouldn’t be long before he did make an announcement, but gave no timeline.
Rodgers said he just came off a 12-day cleanse known as Panchakarma. The National Health Institute describes it as an ancient Indian medical system. On Monday, Rodgers posted to Instagram Monday night thanking several people close to him. Rodgers told McAfee that Panchakarma made him grateful for the people in his life.
Rodgers has previously said he will make a decision before free agency, which begins March 16. Tuesday was the first day teams can franchise a player. Davante Adams would be eligible for that, which may factor into Rodgers’ decision.
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst is set to talk to the media on Wednesday.

The Green Bay Packers have signed K Dominik Eberle. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Tuesday.

Eberle (6-2, 190), a first-year player out of Utah State, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders in May 2020 and spent his entire rookie season on the Raiders’ practice squad. In 2021, he spent time on the practice squads of the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, appearing in one game for Houston when he was activated in Week 16 as a COVID-19 replacement. In that game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers, Eberle connected on 2 of 3 field goals, including a 51-yarder, and all five extra points along with three touchbacks on eight kickoffs.

Eberle (eb-err-lee), a native of Nuremburg, Germany, played in 43 games at Utah State and set school career marks for points (359), field goals (64), extra points (167) and extra-point percentage (100.0). As a senior in 2019, he connected on 21 of 24 field goals, a school-record 87.5 percentage, and all 45 of his extra points on his way to earning first-team All-Mountain West honors. Eberle posted a school-record 141 points as a junior in 2018 with 75 extra points and 22 field goals.

Wisconsin has hired Bill Sheridan to coach inside linebackers as one of three changes to Paul Chryst’s staff. Chryst also announced Tuesday that Bob Bostad is switching from inside linebackers coach to offensive line coach and Mickey Turner is moving from tight ends coach to an off-field role in which he will lead Wisconsin’s recruiting efforts. Sheridan was Air Force’s defensive line coach for the last two seasons. Bostad has worked on offense for most of his coaching career. That included stints as Wisconsin’s offensive line coach from 2008-11 and tight ends coach from 2006-07.
