The district says the latest local COVID-19 data shows a downward trend in case rates and vaccine access for all students ages five and older continues to be the District’s greatest mitigation effort. Face coverings will be optional for all students, staff and visitors in district buildings. They’ll be used temporarily should COVID-19 numbers go back up. More information about the new guidelines is available on the District’s website.

N95 Masks
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the health department isn’t providing N95 masks to county residents directly. She says the State of Wisconsin has a way they can order a large quantity of them, but rather than have people come up to the health department at the City-County Government Center in Fond du Lac they are providing them to businesses and organizations to see if they have an interest in distributing them. She says other communities have found different outlets for distributing them as well. She says there are at least 5 or 6 locations throughout the county that distribute them. They are also free of charge at some pharmacies as well. The CDC recommends the use of N95 masks to provide better protection against COVID-19.
Deadline On Survey For Child Care Needs Extended
Envision Greater Fond du Lac President and CEO Sadie Parafiniuk says they have extended the deadline on a survey of area employees’ child care needs. Fond du Lac, Calumet, Dodge, Outagamie and Winnebago counties partnered with the UW-Oshkosh Research Center on the survey which had an original deadline of January 31st. Parafiniuk says they extended the deadline to Friday, February 25th but they’d like to find out from employees what the barriers and problems to returning to work are. All industries are being surveyed. Data from the surveys will be released in early March. She says the information could help them get grants that might help with solutions. She says they will also learn what types of solutions they need to come up with because they could vary from community to community. Parafiniuk invites employees who would like to take the survey to visit the Envision website where there is a link to the survey.

Ripon Community Hospital Outreach Programs Unique
The lead therapist for SSM Health’s Ripon Community Hospital says they have some things that make the hospital and its therapy program unique. Greg Frounfelter is licensed as both a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Licensed Athletic Trainer. He says they provide orthopedic, occupational, cardiac, and speech and language therapy. He says the community outreach they do also makes them unique. He says that includes the athletic training they provide to area high schools and Ripon College, a falls prevention program, and the fitness center at the hospital. He says in addition the staff has worked together a long time, which translates to the care that they provide. He says they would be happy to answer any questions about their services if you give them a call at 920-745-3630.
