Race For Ripon Common Council Set
Only ninety (90) votes were cast in the spring primary election for a District 4 seat on the Ripon Common Council. That was enough however to trim down the field of candidates from 3 to 2 for the election in April. Mike Boscaljon a newcomer to city politics received the most votes 34 just edging former Alderman Doug Iverson who had 33. The two will face each other on the ballot on April 5th. Former Alderperson Ben Morrison was eliminated from the race receiving 23 votes. The 90 votes were 8 percent of the total number of registered voters in the city which is 1,097.
Oshkosh School Board Race
Voters in the Oshkosh Area School District narrowed down the field of candidates for two seats on the school board from 6 to 4 in Tuesday’s election. Incumbents Liz Szilagyi with 2,793 and Stephanie Carlin with 2,615 votes will face challengers Sarah Dougherty Noe and Kelly DeWitt who received 1,606 and 1,462 votes respectively. Matt Tooke (1,378 votes) and Casey Radtke (690 votes) were eliminated from the race.
Winnebago County Board Races
Two races for the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors were narrowed by voters Tuesday. In District 18 James Ponzer got the most votes with 162 and will face Garth Seiler who received 61 votes. Philip Walker picked up 32 votes but was eliminated from the race. In District 34 Jeffrey Beem collected the most votes with 93 and will face John Hoeft II who got 46 votes in the April 5th election. Ed Jeziorny was eliminated from the race picking up 45 votes. Both seats will have new representation as long-time incumbents representing them are not running for reelection.
