Johnny Davis had a game-high 25 points, leading No. 14 Wisconsin to a 70-62 victory over No. 17 Michigan State on Tuesday night. The win lifted the second-place Badgers (19-4 overall, 10-3 Big Ten) to within a half-game of first-place Illinois in the Big Ten Conference. Chucky Hepburn and Tyler Wahl both added 11 points for the Badgers, who outshot the Spartans 47.2% to 41.5%Marcus Bingham Jr. had 15 points to lead the Spartans (17-6, 8-4), who remain in fourth place . Malik Hal added 12 off the bench.
The Badgers led throughout the first half, thanks in part to ice-cold shooting by the Spartans, whose shooting percentage was below 30% for most of the half until Bingham hit a shot from the top of the key just before the buzzer to cut Wisconsin’s lead to 29-23 at the break.
Wisconsin hosts Rutgers on Saturday.
In the NBA last night, the Bucks beat the Lakers on the road 131-116. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 44 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Bobby Portis Jr. added 23 points and Khris Middleton 21 for Milwaukee. Lebron James paced the Lakers with 27 points. The Bucks play at Phoenix Thursday night. With the win the Bucks moved to within a half-game of first-place Miami in the Eastern Conference.
Norway and Sweden are tied for first in most gold medals in the Winter Olympics with four each. The U.S. has won one gold, five sliver and one bronze for a total of seven medals. The Russia Olympic Committee leads all countries with 10 total medals and Norway is next with nine.
The Packers officially announced the hiring of Rich Bisaccia as their next special teams coordinator on Tuesday. Bisaccia was most recently the Raiders’ interim head coach after starting the 2021 season as the special teams coordinator in Las Vegas.
Bisaccia brings 38 years of coaching experience to the Packers, including 20 seasons in the NFL as a special teams coordinator with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2018-21), Dallas Cowboys (2013-17), San Diego Chargers (2011-12) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2002-10). Bisaccia had been promoted to interim head coach for Las Vegas on Oct. 11 and led the Raiders to their first postseason appearance since 2017. Overall, he has held the title of associate head coach or assistant head coach for 11 years in the NFL, including each of the lst seven seasons. Bisaccia will become the third special teams coordinator hired by Matt LaFleur since taking over as head coach in 2019.
Maurice Drayton was fired last week by the Packers after special teams miscues contributed to Green Bay’s divisional round loss to San Francisco. The Packers also finished the season ranked among the worst in the NFL, coming in at 31st in field goals made, 29th in opponent kickoff return yards, and 32nd in punt coverage yards.
