COVID 19 Report Friday 1/14/22

17 January 2022 News

Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services says a change in reporting methods has temporarily inflated the number of new COVID-19 cases being reported. For instance Friday there were 19,783 new cases reported a new record but that included backlogged cases as well. The DHS says new cases for local and tribal health departments are being directly imported into the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System. They say for that reason people should take a look at the 7-day rolling average which is more accurate. Friday that average was almost 11,000 cases a day over the past week. The death toll rose by 52 on Friday and 217 people were hospitalized.

Winnebago County Friday reported 723 new COVID-19 cases. Fond du Lac County recorded 267 new cases and 2 deaths and Dodge County had 247 new cases and 1 death. Green Lake County had 46 new cases, Waupaca County had 161 new cases and 1 death, and Waushara County reported 81 new coronavirus cases as it moved past 4,000 total cases to 4,044 since the pandemic began.
