Large Natural Gas Leak In Juneau Area Of Dodge County
30 December 2021 News
Alliant Energy crews began relighting pilot lights for homes in the Juneau area of Dodge County early this morning after natural gas was shut off due to a large leak. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says about 1,100 homes in the city of Juneau were affected and a warming shelter was set up at the Horicon High School. Around 2:30 yesterday afternoon a traffic crash occurred on State Highway 26 near the Dodge County Airport, about a mile north of Juneau. The crash caused damage to an above ground natural gas pipe, creating a significant leak. Homes within a 1 mile radius were evacuated and natural gas and electricity were shut off. Electricity has been restored and natural gas is being restored as well. Residents were notified about the leak and the temporary warming shelter.
