First Omicron Variant Case Reported In Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services reported the state’s first case of the COVID-19 Omicron variant Saturday. State Health officials say the person who tested positive was a Wisconsin resident who had traveled to South Africa. Governor Evers is urging all residents to “double down” and get vaccinated and get a booster shot as soon as possible and to follow the latest public health guidance. The infected person is a Milwaukee County man who had been vaccinated and received a booster. He reported only mild symptoms and did not require hospitalization.
