The Packers continue to prepare for Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field. Both teams still don’t know the status of their starting quarterbacks. Although Russell Wilson has been practicing, after missing four weeks because of a broken bone in his hand, no decision has been made by head coach Pete Carroll as to whether or not he’ll start. The Packers have to wait until Saturday to find out if Aaron Rodgers will play because of COVID Protocols. He must test negative within 24 hours of the game to be cleared to play. Rodgers has not been involved with practicing but has taken part in video sessions and game-planning. Also up in the air is who will start at left tackle. David Bakhtiari returned to practice this week and saw limited practice on Thursday . Elgton Jenkins has filled in and has played well, but no decision has been made as to whether or not he’ll start again and give Bakhtiari another week to get game-ready.

Meanwhile, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. agreed to a one-year deal with the Rams on Thursday, choosing Los Angeles over several other teams including the Packers. The Packers were prepared to offer Beckham the league’s minimum salary for a veteran. The Browns released Beckham on Monday midway through his third season in Cleveland. He cleared waivers Tuesday with no team willing to pick up the $7.25 million he was owed under his last contract, freeing the five-time 1,000-yard wideout to sign with any team. After considering his options, Beckham elected to join NFL yards passing leader Matthew Stafford and coach Sean McVay in the league’s most productive passing offense.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection will play alongside NFL receiving leader Cooper Kupp — who has 74 catches for 1,019 yards and 10 TDs, all tops in the league — and starters Robert Woods (556 yards) and second-year pro Van Jefferson (443 yards). One of those three receivers is likely to see less playing time after Beckham joins the Rams, who have run offensive sets featuring three receivers almost exclusively this season. The Rams (7-2) visit the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night before their bye week.
In Thursday Night Football Miami pulled off an upset at home defeating the Baltimore Ravens 22-10. The Dolphins defense pressured quarterback Lamar Jackson all night and he was never able to get into a rhythm. He was sacked four times and completed just three of 12 passes for 10-plus yards. Jackson finished 26 of 43 for 238 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Baltimore’s rushing attack was also stymied as the Ravens picked up just 94 total yards. The Ravens scored on their first possession on a 46-yard field goal by Jason Tucker but Tucker missed from 48 yards on their next possession. The Dolphins made two field goals in the second quarter to take a 6-3 halftime lead. Jason Sanders kicked his third field goal in the third quarter and then Miami scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Dolphins quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Jacoby Brissett combined to throw for 304 yards but no touchdowns. Miami improves to 3-7 while the Ravens fall to 6-3.
The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, came out on top over the Motor City Cruise Thursday night 121-116. The win improved the Herd’s record to 2-0 for the season and 1-0 on the road. The Herd was led by Tremont Waters with a top score of 24 while Sam Cunliffe, Terry Larrier and Rayjon Tucker followed with 20 points each. Two Detroit Piston assignment players, Saben Lee and Luka Garza, led the Motor City Cruise with scoring. Lee had the most points with 33 and Garza added 22. Deividas Sirvydis (20 points, 11 rebounds) tallied a double-double for the Cruise. The Herd will play again on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. CT against the Motor City Cruise at Wayne State Arena. This is will be the second game of the back-to-back series.
Wisconsin’s oldest football rivalry has been postponed for the second straight year due to COVID-19. Both Ripon College and Lawrence University announced this year’s meeting between the two schools was canceled due to protocols.
“COVID Protocols have made the game a no contest,” Ripon athletic director Ryan Kane said in a press release. “It will not affect either team’s record and is an unfortunate ending to what was an otherwise successful season for our team.”
The rivalry between Ripon and Lawrence started back in 1893, and the two schools have met 119 times over the past 129 years. The teams met every year between 1945 and 2019 before the pandemic wiped out last season. Ripon will finish the 2021 season with a 6-3 record, and Lawrence finishes at 2-7 on the year.
Ripon College sophomore midfielder Eli Dietzel has been named to the All-Midwest Conference Men’s Soccer Team as a Second Team selection. The award is voted on by the league’s nine head coaches. A native of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Dietzel is Ripon men’s soccer’s first All-Conference selection in eight years. He helped lead the Red Hawks to their highest win total (5) in six years this season. Dietzel finished the year with a team-best six goals, which was tied for seventh in the MWC. His four assists tied for the team lead and was tied for eighth in the conference, while his team-high 16 points ranked seventh in the MWC. He produced one game-winning goal this season, while converting his only Penalty Kick for a goal.

Ripon College at Lawrence Universtiy-Cancelled due to COVID-19 Protcols. This marks the second consecutive season that Wisconsin’s oldest college football rivalry has been put on hold. The entirety of the 2020 season, including the traditional regular-season finale between Lawrence and Ripon, was wiped away by the pandemic. The schools have met 119 times in the last 129 years. Ripon finishes the season at 6-3 including a 5-3 record in the Midwest Conferemce.
