Oshkosh Education Association Receives Generous Donation

Oshkosh, WI – The Oshkosh Area School District Education Foundation recently received a $20,000 donation from the JEK Foundation (formerly known as the John E. Kuenzl Foundation). The funds will be used to enhance the educational experience in the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD), specifically supporting teachers in bringing unique and innovative projects to their classrooms
“This is a remarkable gift that will have an immediate impact on student learning in the Oshkosh Area School District,” said Theresa Duren, OASD Education Foundation Director. “We are grateful for the JEK Foundation’s commitment to supporting Oshkosh students, staff and schools.”
The $20,000 donation will help support three exciting initiatives within the Oshkosh Area School District:
DonorsChoose – The OASD Education Foundation recently partnered with DonorsChoose to support teachers in securing additional resources for classrooms. Through DonorsChoose, teachers are able to turn their classroom visions into reality. Beginning on November 1, 2021 and lasting through February of 2022, the OASD will launch its first DonorsChoose campaign with the goal of funding all of the project requests put forth by OASD teachers. A portion of the funds donated by the JEK Foundation will be used to fill funding gaps of projects listed on the OASD’s DonorsChoose page (donorschoose.org/oasd).
Give Education Day – The OASD Education Foundation will once again be participating in Give Education Day – a 24-hour online giving campaign – happening this year on March 23, 2022. A portion of the funds donated by the JEK Foundation will be used to create a match campaign for Give Education Day that will allow community donations to go even further. Give Education Day helps to fund innovative teacher grants for special class projects, supplemental instruction and special assistance to students and school programs.
Conscious Discipline – The OASD Education Foundation strives to support the meaningful work happening within the District. The OASD recently embarked on a journey of supporting students through Conscious Discipline – a comprehensive, trauma-informed and healing-centered self-regulation program, based on current brain research, that integrates Social Emotional Learning, School and Classroom Culture, and Restorative Discipline. As part of this work, the OASD is providing elementary staff with professional development and training around Conscious Discipline. A portion of the funds donated by the JEK Foundation will be used to provide Conscious Discipline resources to elementary school staff that supports the current learning.
The OASD Education Foundation engages the community in supporting Oshkosh public schools and is committed to providing resources for innovation, fine arts, athletics, scholarships, and other resources to enhance students’ lives.
