The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says the spread of the COVID-19 virus has reached “critically high” levels in eight counties. That includes Green Lake County which saw 12 new cases Wednesday. Sixty-two other counties have “very high” COVID activity and the remaining two Douglas and Florence are in the “high” category. The state yesterday reported 2,857 new cases of the coronavirus, 22 more deaths, and 129 new hospitalizations. DHS Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake says only 5 percent of intensive care unit beds are still available in hospitals across the state.

Winnebago County reported 72 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and 1 death.  Fifty-six new cases were reported in both Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties. There were 12 new cases in Green Lake County, 52 in Waupaca County, and Waushara County recorded 12 new cases and 1 death.
