Four Arrested In Connection With Oshkosh Stabbing
Oshkosh Police arrested four people early Tuesday morning in connection with the stabbing of a 34-year-old Oshkosh man and are looking for a fifth person. Thirty-three-year-old Tanner Kent (pictured) is wanted for his role in the incident that happened late Monday night in the 200 block of West 20th Avenue. There was a physical altercation between individuals and the victim who was taken to a hospital with a life-threatening injury. Among those taken into custody were a 31-year-old woman on misdemeanor bail jumping and disorderly conduct charges, and 27-year-old and 30-year-old men on probation holds, and a 33-year-old man on attempted first degree reckless homicide, misdemeanor and felony bail jumping, methamphetamine trafficking, and heroin possession charges.
Teen Charged For Shooting Incident In Oshkosh
A 16-year-old boy is facing attempted first degree intentional homicide and other charges for allegedly shooting at another driver’s vehicle during an incident in the 200 block of West 10th Avenue in Oshkosh early Sunday morning. The people in the two vehicles were involved in a disturbance earlier in the 200 block of West 20th Avenue. The two vehicles continued in the same direction when shots were fired in the 200 block of West 10th Avenue. Also arrested was a 38-year-old woman for being party to the crime of first degree recklessly endangering safety and contributing to the delinquency of a child. A 15-year-old girl is being referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney on a disorderly conduct charge.
Suspect Sought In Oshkosh Stabbing
Oshkosh Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the 500 block of North Main Street early Saturday morning. The victim a 23-year-old man was treated for a non-life threating injury. The suspect was described as an African American male dressed in black clothing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Oshkosh Police at 920-236-5700 or the Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at 920-231-8477.
Waupaca County Scam
A scammer or scammers are posing as a Deputy or Detective with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office trying to get personal information out of residents like their date of birth, social security number or financial information. Sheriff’s officials say the scams can be very convincing because they use real names and spoof phone numbers from the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says they would never advise a resident of an arrest warrant by telephone and if you do have a question about the authenticity of phone call you received call them at (715) 258-4466.
Pernat-Haase Italian Salami Recall
Pernat-Haase Meats in Juneau is voluntarily recalling 1 to 1.5 pound packages of Italian salami with wine distributed to retailers in the Juneau, Ixonia, and Johnson Creek areas. The packages were packaged on March 17th. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it is a Class II recall, which means there is a remote possibility of adverse health consequences from the use of the product. No illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming the product. Evidence shows that the product contained monosodium glutamate (MSG) but was misbranded as “no MSG added.”
ADVOCAP Gets PRIME Funding
ADVOCAP is one of two Wisconsin nonprofits receiving funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide direct technical assistance to low-income entrepreneurs and help them get financing to establish and expand their small business through the Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs, more commonly known as PRIME. With its PRIME award of $196,000 ADVOCAP will help to educate new and existing low-income entrepreneurs. The agency will provide training, technical assistance, best practice advice, and support for businesses facing hardships in rural Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago Counties. The other program to get the funding is the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation which will use its PRIME award to fund similar programs in 22 areas across the state.

With the Delta variant currently fueling an increase in COVID-19 infections, the nation and the Fox Valley are now facing a second-flu season while coping with the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Jennifer Frank, Chief Medical Officer of the ThedaCare Clinically Integrated Network, says, “Getting people vaccinated for influenza will continue to be very important this year.” She also says its important people pay close attention to COVID-19 activity in their area and follow the recommendations of local heath organizations. She urges everyone to follow the CDC’s advice to wear a mask, frequently wash your hands, socially distance yourself and avoid large crowds in indoor spaces. She also noted that testing for COVID-19 is important.
Preventing The Next Pandemic Ripon College Talk

The talk “Preventing the Next Pandemic” will be presented tonight at Ripon College at 6:30 in the Kresge Little Theatre, East Hall. It is free and kicks off the 2021-22 program to be presented by the Center for Politics and the People. The speaker, Steve Galster, is co-chair of the End Pandemics Campaign, which advocates to prevent future pandemics by “ending the commercial trade in wild animals, expanding wildlife habitat and protecting livelihoods.” He also is CEO of Freeland, which focuses on ending wildlife trafficking and human slavery. During his talk, he will discuss identifying root causes of pandemics and preventing future pandemics. Per Ripon College policy, all visitors to campus are required to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces.
