State health officials say 1,968 people tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in the latest batch of test results that came back Wednesday. That raised the 7-day rolling average for new cases to 1,699 per day up from 1,667 from the previous day. The state also reported 28 more deaths with 8 of those deaths occurring over the last 30 days. The death toll since the pandemic began now stands at 7,627 lives lost. Another 112 people were hospitalized. The Wisconsin Hospital Association says 944 people are hospitalized across the state with 280 of those patients in intensive care.

Winnebago County reported 56 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday. Forty-five new cases were recorded in Fond du Lac County and Dodge County had 23 new cases. Eight new cases were reported in Green Lake County yesterday, Waupaca County had 14 new cases, and Waushara County had 7 new cases.
