The state’s Department of Health Services says the Delta variant has emerged as the dominant strain of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. In the week of August 9th 98 percent of tests that came back positive were for the Delta variant. The week of August 16th the first 43 positive tests were also the Delta variant. Meanwhile since last Friday 3,666 people have tested positive for the virus as the 7-day daily average increased to 1,692.  Seven more deaths were also reported since Friday bringing the death toll to 7,584 lives lost to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Winnebago County reported 50 new COVID-19 cases Monday. Fond du Lac County recorded 105 new cases since Friday and 11 hospitalizations. Dodge County has had 67 news cases and 1 death since Friday and Green Lake County reported 12 new cases Monday. Twenty-five new cases were recorded in Waupaca County and Waushara County had 3 new cases.
