17 July 2021 News
A standoff in Oshkosh with a man involved in a carjacking ended without incident early Friday afternoon. Police tried to take Richard Christl of Oshkosh into custody Thursday on a warrant for his arrest. He was a passenger in a vehicle they had contact with, but Christl had a gun and pointed it at the driver who exited the vehicle. Christl got into the driver’s seat and took off at a high rate of speed. Police learned Friday afternoon that Christl was at a residence in the 800 block of Jackson Street and they, their SWAT Team and a Negotiation Team spent nearly six hours negotiating with him to surrender. He was safely taken into custody shortly after 6 pm Friday night.
