Sports for June 25th

The Bucks need to bounce back tonight against the Atlanta Hawks in the second game of their NBA Eastern Conference Final Series.  The Hawks took game one of their best-of-seven game series Wednesday night, 116-113.  Milwaukee needs to find a way to stop Tre Young who poured in 48 points in game one.  Tipoff is at 7:30 tonight at Fiserv Forum.  After tonight’s game, the series shifts to Atlanta for games three and four.

The Brewers are back home this afternoon  for the first game of a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. A pair of right-handers square off.  The Rockies will send Jon Gray (4-6, 4.29 ERA against the Brewers Corbin Burnes (3-4, 2.62 ERA).  First pitch is at 3:10 at American Family Field and the game can be heard on AM 1100/98.3 FM, WISS.

In the NL Central on Thursday, the Cubs shutout the Dodgers 4-0, as four Chicago pitchers combined to throw the seventh no-hitter of the season, tying a Major League record.  Starter Zach Davies went the first six innings, followed by Ryan Tapera, Andrew Chafin and Craig Kimbrel.  Javier Baez and Wilson Contreras hit home runs for the Cubs. In other games, the Reds beat the Braves 5-3 and the Pirates downed the Cardinals 8-2.

The Brewers and Cubs are tied for first place in the division, the Reds are 4 games out, the Cardinals 6 and the Pirates are 14 games out of first place.

Lizette Galas shot a 5-under 67 Thursday to take a one-stroke lead in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Johns Creek, Georgia. She leads Charly Hull by one shot and seven other golfers by two shots.

On the Men’s PGA Tour Satoshi Kodaira and Kramer Hickok each shot 7-under par to share the first round lead at the Travelers Championship and lead Tabor Gooch by one stroke at TPC River Highlands.

State Track Results Division 3 (Thurs.)

 The start of the 125th Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Track and Field Championships and the 50th Girls Track and Field Championships was held Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
