Wisconsin Department of Health Services officials say the COVID-19 Delta variant has not made too much headway into the state yet. There have been 36 cases of the variant in the state since April. But 114 new COVID cases Thursday was an increase and raised the 7-day average for new cases to 78. The state also reported 12 more deaths putting the death toll during the pandemic at 7,273 lives lost. The state also says 48 more people were hospitalized since Wednesday morning.
Fond du Lac County reported 4 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and 1 death. The death toll in the county since the health crisis began is at 126 lives lost. No new cases of the coronavirus were recorded in Dodge, Green Lake, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago counties yesterday.
