Cable Bill Scam
The Better Business Bureau is warning people about a scam in which the caller says they are with your cable television provider. The caller tells you that you can greatly reduce your bill by prepaying. They will ask you to provide them with payment information or to send them a check or gift cards. The bureau recommends never paying with debit or gift cards, verifying identity if someone shows up at your door, and checking with your cable company about supposed special deals. The bureau says the caller can be convincing even using the same hold music as big-name cable companies and duplicating a company’s caller menu.

FDL Development
Envision Greater Fond du Lac President and CEO Sadie Parafiniuk says even through the last year of the pandemic they’ve seen some interest in Fond du Lac in retail, light manufacturing and warehousing development. She says it was good to be able to attract two stores to fill up the former Shopko building on West Johnson Street in Fond du Lac. “We do have a Hobby Lobby and a Big Lots coming. They are going to be splitting up the former Shopko building. So that was interesting to get some retail activity even during the pandemic.” She says there was also interest in light manufacturing and warehousing, but unfortunately right now there is a gap in available buildings for that purpose and it’s expensive to build. She says they are trying to work on solutions for that including modifying existing buildings.
