Appleton Man Charged For Chase In FDL County

Bond has been set at $5,000 cash for a 31-year-old Appleton man who led authorities in Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties on a slow speed chase early Monday morning. Freddy Abril made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Thursday. A preliminary hearing is set for next Friday. He fled from a traffic stop in Neenah and twice tire deflation devices damaged his vehicle but he failed to stop. He was eventually boxed in by Sheriff’s deputies at I-41 near County Highway F in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Byron. No one was hurt during the pursuit, which covered 18.5 miles in Fond du Lac County. He’s facing five felony charges and three misdemeanors including first degree recklessly endangering safety, attempted battery to a law enforcement officer, felony eluding, and his third OWI offense.
