FDL Man On Trial For Attempted Murder
A 33-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of shooting two people at a Fond du Lac apartment building is on trial this week on attempted first degree intentional homicide and first degree recklessly endangering safety charges. Delaney Watt faces multiple charges stemming from a beef he had with a tenant at an apartment at 130 Forest Avenue in Fond du Lac in September of 2018. He was allegedly firing a handgun at that man when he shot a 17-year-old girl and 26-year-old man. The girl was shot in the back and the man was paralyzed as a result of the shooting. When police executed a search warrant at Watt’s residence they found a hand gun, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana and over $16,000 in cash. The jury trial in Fond du Lac County court is scheduled to run through Friday.
Update On Town Of Ripon Crash
Town of Ripon Police have released a few more details about a vehicle rollover accident that occurred last Thursday. Police Captain Howard Stibb says the accident occurred on Olden Road just before 11 am during a rain storm. Steven Brace of Ripon was eastbound in his pickup truck when he went off the side of the road. At that point it’s believed he overcorrected in getting back onto the road and slid into a culvert. After hitting the culvert the truck flipped end for end and came to rest on its roof on a lawn. Neither Brace nor his passenger, a Berlin man, was hurt in the mishap. They were wearing seatbelts. Stibb says neither alcohol nor drug use are considered factors in the crash.

Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
Fond du Lac County Communications and Emergency Management Director Bobbi Hicken looks forward to Public Safety Telecommunicators Week every year. She started out as a dispatcher with the county in 1997. She says the change in technology alone since that time is amazing. “The changes that have occurred in the professionalism that is required is amazing, the technology is so advanced. Dispatchers have to work so hard with just the technology and all of that.” She says in addition to the technology dispatchers also have to deal with an often emotional person on the other end of the phone call. Hicken says they share everybody’s worst day ever and then hang up and have to do it all over again. The Fond du Lac County Communications Center on an average day deals with over 350 administrative calls and 75 911 calls. Public Safety Telecommunicators Week runs through this Saturday.

ADVOCAP Needs Volunteers
An official with ADVOCAP says they are always looking for volunteers. Dawn Patterson is the Director of Food Nutrition for ADVOCAP. She says they are always on the lookout for good volunteers. “We did have volunteers when we had the meal sites, but since they closed volunteers have helped with delivering meals from the pantries but we could always use more volunteers. So all they would have to do is call us at the Neenah office.” ADVOCAP does have a program called the Retired Senior Volunteer Program or RSVP. The volunteers end up working at humane societies, at Senior Centers, Libraries, Food Pantries, and a number of non-profits some of which are still closed due to the pandemic.
