Rick Gedemer Runs For FDL County Executive
5 April 2021 News
Fond du Lac County Executive candidate Rick Gedemer has considered running for office for years, but put that into action just in the last few years winning election to the Fond du Lac School Board a year ago. Now he has his eye on the County Executive’s Office. Going on 15 years he has served as the Deputy Director for the Fond du Lac County Social Services Office. He says the county might be better served if it combined some departments like the Aging and Disability Resource Center and Senior Services especially with projections that by 2035 35 percent of the population in the county will be above 65 years of age. “Back when the Aging and Disabilities Resource Center started in 1998 there was the discussion of the aging Baby Boomers and how that group because of that populace group had put a burden on the system. Well that group is pale in comparison to now the group coming forward building to 35 percent we have to compete differently we have to open our arms to people coming into Fond du Lac County for jobs.” He says the goal in combining certain departments would be to better serve the residents of the county, but accomplish it in a cost neutral way. Gedemer says people can learn more about his candidacy at his Facebook page.
