Peace Focus Of Zoom Webinar At Ripon College

RIPON — “Why Peace is Possible: Exploring the Dimensions of Human Kindness in the Midst of Violence” will be presented by Ripon College via Zoom webinar at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Registration is free and may be made at ripon.edu/peace.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Politics and the People.
The speaker will be Dr. Lynne M. Woehrle, director of sustainable peacebuilding Programs and associate professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She will address why people should be optimistic in a time when violence and inhumanity seem to be winning. She will look at major barriers to peace and opportunities for peacebuilding; explore pathways to a more just and humane world through the lenses of gender and race; and introduce the concepts of peacebuilding, resilient communities and restorative justice in considering personal and structural changes that lead to peaceful co-existence.
