The extreme cold temperatures kept harvest numbers down Monday for Day 3 of the sturgeon spearing season. The DNR says 134 fish were harvested on Lake Winnebago and 36 were taken on the Upriver Lakes. A total of 609 sturgeon have been taken on Lake Winnebago and 263 on the Upriver Lakes. The harvest on the Upriver Lakes leaves 30 adult female sturgeon and 43 males remaining to hit the 90 percent trigger to close the season on those lakes. In total Monday nine fish were taken over 100 pounds the largest being a 153 pound 77 inch long female sturgeon (pictured) Thomas Luedtke speared on Lake Poygan. The biggest fish harvested on Lake Winnebago Monday belonged to David Schneider who took home a 123.8 pound 76.3 inch long female sturgeon.
