In the NBA tonight Milwaukee plays at Cleveland.  The Bucks (13-8) have won two-in-a-row, the latest coming Wednesday night at home over the Indiana Pacers, 130-1100.  Cleveland (10–12) lost its last time out.  Milwaukee is tied for second place with the Nets in the Eastern Conference, two games behind the 76ers. The Cavaliers are 5 5 and-a-half games out in the East.

In men’s college basketball action Saturday, #19 Wisconsin is at #12 Illinois. The Badgers are 14-5 while Illinois comes in at 12-5.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs continue getting ready for Super Bowl 55 Sunday in Tampa.  The defending champion Chiefs are hoping to have two players who were deemed to be in close contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.  Wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson and back-up center Daniel Kilgore were placed on the reserve/Covid-19 list on Monday because a barber tested positive.  If Robinson tests negative he will be able to practice today and Kilgore would be able to join the team tomorrow, if he tests negative.

The defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs are going up against a Tampa Bay team that is led by quarterback Tom Brady,  who is making his tenth Super Bowl appearance.  He’s been a champion six times.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell expressed disappointment Thursday that only two minorities were hired for seven head-coaching openings despite a growing pool of qualified candidates.

“I’m not sure there’s an issue we spent more time with our ownership on,” Goodell said as part of his annual state-of-the-league address ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl. “Our ownership is committed and focused on this.”

The commissioner emphasized that lack of diversity isn’t just a head-coaching issue but an issue throughout positions on all clubs.

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are seeking host families to welcome players into their homes for the 2021 season. Host families house, feed, and provide support to players who will be coming to Fond du Lac to play in the Northwoods League.

Families interested in the program should have a separate bedroom for the player and be able to host a player from late-May through mid-August.

“Our host families have been a big key to our success over the past four seasons,” said Chris Ward, Dock Spiders General Manager. “The families and players involved really enjoy their experience.”

Benefits of the program for host families include:

  • Complimentary tickets for your immediate family.
  • 15% discount in the team store.
  • Guaranteed all giveaway items distributed during the season.
  • Host family picnic.

If you are interested in becoming a host family, visit the team’s link.

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders will play their first home game of the season on May 31.

The Dock Spiders currently have season tickets and ticket packages available at www.dockspiders.com. Groups of 20 or more are able to book group outings for the upcoming season by calling the ticket office at 920-907-9833.
