Getaway Car From Fox River Mall Shooting Recovered
The search continues for the Fox River Mall shooter, but police recovered the getaway car in Oshkosh Monday. Grand Chute Police are still looking for 17-year-old Dezman Ellis to question him about Sunday’s shooting. Nineteen-year-old Jovanni Frausto died after being taken to a hospital. A second victim suffered minor injuries and was released from a hospital. Police say the shooting was targeted. Oshkosh Police arrested a 15-year-old boy and three women ages 16, 18 and 37-years-old on disorderly conduct and resisting charges at the duplex where the car was recovered. Oshkosh Police Officer Kate Mann says the four individuals got physically combative with officers when they were inside the residence completing their investigation.
Fire Destroys Town Of Forest Home
Fire destroyed a home and attached garage in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Forest Monday afternoon. The fire at W981 Highway 23 was reported just before 3 pm by multiple callers. It began in the garage and spread to the home. No one was injured during the blaze and firefighters and law enforcement were able to rescue a dog and reunite it with its owner. The home owned by Ned Sippel of Fond du Lac was a complete loss. The cause of the fire is still being determined. Eleven fire departments responded to the fire.
Dodge County Pursuit And Standoff
A 25-year-old Oshkosh man is facing charges in Dodge County after a car chase and standoff with authorities. The suspect was taken into custody with no injuries after 8 hours of negotiation and an extraction plan was used early Sunday morning. The chase began in Juneau Saturday night at 8:12 pm with police there pursuing a Chevy Envoy. The pursuit was joined by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. During the course of the chase the suspect ran into and damaged three squad cars. The suspect vehicle ran off County Highway W where police and deputies set up a perimeter around the vehicle after learning the suspect might be armed. The suspect was eventually taken to a hospital as a precaution and eventually the Dodge County Jail. He will be facing multiple charges.
FDL Man Sentenced On Armed Robbery Charges
A 44-year-old Fond du Lac man was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision for an armed robbery conviction. A number of other charges against Desmond Hicks were included with those sentences running concurrent to the armed robbery conviction. More charges were read into the record and dismissed as part of the sentencing. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says, “Hicks was convicted of various acts of violence against multiple women and our community is undoubtedly safer as a result of this prison sentence.” Judge Richard Nuss pronounced the sentence. Hicks was already doing time in prison for a previous domestic violence incident in Fond du Lac.
Waupun Man Sentenced On Drug Charges
A 33-year-old Waupun man was recently sentenced to 2 years in prison and 5 years of extended supervision on drug charges in Dodge County court. Bradley Valcq was pulled over in January of 2019 because the license plate on the car he was driving didn’t match the one it was registered to. The officer recognized Valcq who had an active warrant out on him from probation and parole. A small bag with powdery residue was found in the back seat and a law enforcement K9 indicated there were drugs in the car. A search turned up methamphetamine, crack cocaine, heroin, psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle.
Drunk Drivers Leads FDL County Deputies On Chase
A drunk driver led Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies on a 6 ½ mile chase Friday afternoon after nearly causing a crash and forcing another vehicle off the road. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle on County Highway V south of Eden. The driver did not yield to deputies and continued south at or near speed limits. Campbellsport Police joined the chase and upon seeing other officers join the pursuit the driver pulled over just outside of Campbellsport. The driver is facing a 5th OWI charge and other criminal traffic citations.
Hit And Run Driver Sought In Oshkosh
Oshkosh Police are still looking for a vehicle that struck a bicyclist at County Road A and East Snell Road last Friday afternoon. The man riding the bicycle was taken to a local hospital. Police say the vehicle continued heading south on County Road A after hitting the bicyclist. The vehicle was described as a dark-colored Jeep SUV with damage to the front driver’s side. Police released a photo of the suspect vehicle which can be seen on the Oshkosh Police Facebook page.
