Search Continues For Missing Jet Pilot

The Wisconsin Air National Guard Thursday confirmed the death of the F-16 pilot who crashed in the Hiawatha National Forest in Delta County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Colonel Bart Van Loo commander of the 115th Fighter Wing issued a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.” The cause of the crash is being investigated. The pilot was taking part in a routine training mission when the jet crashed about 8 pm Tuesday. The pilot’s identity will be released later today.

The search continues for the pilot of a Wisconsin Air National Guard F-16 fighter jet that crashed in the Hiawatha National Forest in Delta County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Tuesday night. The search covered ground, air and water. The Fighting Falcon F-16 was assigned to the 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Air National Guard Base in Madison. The pilot was taking part in a routine training mission when the jet crashed about 8 pm Tuesday.
