During a press briefing Tuesday Governor Tony Evers said the state has now recorded 3,806 deaths from COVID-19 since the first two were reported on March 19th. There were 68 new deaths yesterday. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 3,786 people died from all types of accidents in Wisconsin in 2018 and the death toll due to the coronavirus has surpassed that and is now the third leading cause of death in the state trailing only Heart Disease and Cancer. Deaths were reported in 28 counties yesterday from COVID. Meanwhile 4,114 new cases were reported with 43 percent of the 9,591 latest test results coming back positive.
Winnebago County reported 62 new COVID-19 cases and 2 more deaths Tuesday to put its total cases at 13,806 with 129 deaths. Fond du Lac County recorded 33 new cases to put its total cases at 9,196 cases with 54 deaths. Ninety-three new cases in Dodge County gave it a total of 9,169 cases with 84 deaths. Five new cases and 1 more death give Green Lake County 1,237 total cases and 8 deaths. The state revised Marquette County’s total cases down by one to put its total cases at 1,074 with 15 deaths. Waupaca County had no new cases or deaths so its total cases of COVID remain at 3,905 with 127 deaths. The Waushara County Health Department reported 9 new cases, which means it has had 1,795 total cases and 12 deaths since the health crisis began.
