For the second day in a row Wisconsin topped 7,000 new COVID-19 cases. The 7,048 new cases Wednesday were 40.3 percent of the 17,472 test results that came back. Sixty-two more people died of the coronavirus bringing the death toll since the pandemic began to 2,457 people. Pepin County, the last county to have a COVID-19 death, reported its first death. The state also reported 277 people were hospitalized bringing the number of people hospitalized in Wisconsin’s 134 hospitals to a record 2,102 patients including a record 441 in ICU.
Wednesday brought 117 more COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths in Winnebago County raising its totals cases to 10,887 and its number of deaths to 85. Fond du Lac County recorded 172 new cases and 2 more deaths yesterday to put its total cases at 6,637 and its death toll at 31 people. Dodge County moved past 6,000 total COVID cases with 94 new cases giving it 6,006 with 49 deaths. Twenty-four new cases were recorded in Green Lake County, which now has 977 total cases and 4 deaths. Ten more cases and 1 more death in Marquette County give it 866 total cases and 7 deaths. Waupaca County reported 47 new cases yesterday and 9 more deaths, which give it a total of 3,221 total cases and 87 deaths. Waushara County Health Department recorded 12 new COVID cases and now has had 1,520 total cases and 6 deaths since the health crisis began.
