Marsh Fire May Have Been Intentionally Set

A marsh fire in the Town of Ashford Wednesday evening may have been intentionally set. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say their dispatch center got a 911 call about a field on fire on County Highway W near Sunset Lane at 7:10 pm. A witness saw a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the road prior to the fire. The fire spread quickly through the field, which consisted mostly of cattails and a small wooded area. Approximately 30 to 40 acres burned. No injuries were reported. Donald Blatz owns the property. Fire departments from Campbellsport, Eden, Kewaskum, Mt. Calvary, Lamartine, and St. Cloud responded to the fire. The blaze remains under investigation.
