Pizza Delivery Man Charged With Hit And Run

A 24-year-old Ripon man is being charged with hit and run of an attended vehicle for hitting another car while delivering pizzas. According to the criminal complaint Ripon Police responded to the intersection of East Oshkosh and Vermont Street on October 7th for the hit and run accident. The victim told officers a vehicle with a Domino’s Pizza logo affixed to its top struck the rear passenger side of her vehicle and took off. Working with staff at the restaurant police were able to determine the driver of the hit and run vehicle was Michael Jung. Jung told an officer he was going to report the accident after his shift. He said he was checking on the address on the receipt of the delivery when he hit the other vehicle.

One Hurt In FDL House Fire

One person was taken to St. Agnes Hospital and a dog died in a house fire in Fond du Lac Monday morning. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says when they arrived a person on the front porch of the two-story wood framed house was screaming that his house was on fire. He was later taken to the hospital. Firefighters quickly located the fire and put it out, but not before it caused significant damage to the home at 11 East 10th Street. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The time of the fire call was 9:20 am.

FDL SWAT Call

No one was injured during a domestic violence incident in the 200 block of Morris Street in Fond du Lac late Sunday night. Police called in their SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams when it was learned a handgun had been displayed at some point in an argument between a man and woman. Officers were able to contact the man who a short time later exited the residence and was taken into custody. A child inside the residence was not harmed.

Child Flu Shot Clinic In Brandon Today

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is holding free drive-through flu shots for kids from 4 to 18 years of age living or attending school in the county. The clinic is this afternoon from 3:30 to 7 pm at the Brandon Highway Garage at 362 South Woodward Street in Brandon. No appointment is needed, but masks are required. You should not bring your child if you or your child is sick from COVID-19 or under quarantine. A consent form is needed, which can be found at the county website.

Unemployment Benefits Increase

Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development reports unemployment benefits have been increased by $300 a week for those whose jobs were affected by the coronavirus outbreak.  State residents collecting unemployment benefits could get up to $1,800 in payments that are retroactive to August 1st. The payments would have covered a period up to September 5th. The payments are funded through FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Lantern Walk Sunday

On Sunday from 5 to 7 pm all ages are invited to enjoy a brief lantern-lit walk beginning on the Northwestern Trail adjacent to the Ripon Public Library parking lot. This Tinkergarten inspired event is cohosted by the library and local Tinkergarten entrepreneur Carissa Sorensen. Social distancing and masks, for ages 5 years and up, are required. Arrive at your convenience, groups will enter the trail at 5-minute intervals and choose a 4 or 8 block loop circling back to the library. A campfire will add light, warmth, and distanced camaraderie to the event. Registration is not required.
