After an eight year absence from politics a former State Senator is running for the 6th Congressional District seat. The former Senator from the 18th State Senate District Jessica King is a Democratic candidate for the seat held by Republican Glenn Grothman. The former Oshkosh Common Council member and Deputy Mayor currently works for a firm that advocates for people having a difficult time getting their health care insurance companies and Medicare to pay their claims. She says health care is one of the reasons she’s running especially with the current pandemic. “I just think there are so many opportunities to make sure that people can have more affordable health care more affordable prescriptions and then have access to the providers that they need locally and then really looking at quality outcomes for people. I think right now that needs to be the focus especially during this pandemic and during this recession.” She says in a pandemic and recession we need someone with a private sector perspective to help solve those issues and she believes she is the right person to do that.
