Capacity Limits Order Being Challenged Again

Governor Tony Evers executive order setting capacity limits for bars, restaurants and businesses at 25 percent is being challenged again. This time an appeal of a judge’s order putting the limits back in place has been filed. The Mix Up bar in Amery and Pro-Life Wisconsin asked the Wisconsin Appeals Court to overturn the ruling. They are asking for a decision by Friday, which is two weeks before the capacity limits order is set to expire.

Suspect In Custody For Fatal Shooting In Waupaca

Waupaca Police say a man is in custody after a fatal shooting in the city late Monday night. Officers responded shortly before 10:30 pm for a report of an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim was found in the roadway and was taken to a hospital in Waupaca where he died. A man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The Waupaca County District Attorney’s office identifies him as William Zelenski. Police say the public is not in danger as an investigation into the shooting continues.

Name Released In Fatal Green Lake County Accident

Green Lake County Sheriff’s officials have released the name of the  33-year -old man that died of injuries he suffered in a single vehicle crash on County Road B east of State Highway 73 last Thursday afternoon. Chief Deputy Matt Vande Kolk says Justin Corson of Ripon was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken to the Ripon Medical Center and later transferred to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He died there a day later. The driver and two other passengers were also taken to the Ripon Medical Center with possible injuries. A 911 call reported the accident in the Town of Green Lake at 2:46 Thursday afternoon.

Columbia County Walkaway

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a walk away from their jail. Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Montroy was a Huber inmate with work release privileges. She failed to return from work last Friday morning. Montroy’s last known address was W5931 Chestnut Street in Packwaukee. She was convicted of escape, resisting or obstructing an officer, and theft. Her sentence ran through March 9th of next year. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 608-742-4166.

In Person Absentee Voting Underway

In-person absentee voting is underway in Wisconsin for the Presidential and General Election. In Ripon voters can do in-person absentee voting at the Ripon City Hall. Hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Fridays and 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th. Proof of residency is required to register to vote. A photo ID is required to vote. Anyone with questions can call City Clerk Ann Schommer at (920) 748-4915.

Video Encourages Residents To Mask Up

Envision Greater Fond du Lac, Agnesian HealthCare and the Fond du Lac County Health Department have teamed up to film a video asking people to “Mask Up.” Envision President and CEO Sadie Parafiniuk says 8 months into the pandemic people have “COVID fatigue” and are tired of the precautions, but they are necessary to stop the spread of the pandemic.  “So we brought together some community leaders, some business leaders and did a video everybody touched on a little bit different pieces of the puzzle that all came together.” The video encourages the use of face masks, social distancing, hand washing, and staying at home if you’re sick. Ripon Senior Activity Center Birthday Party Today

The Ripon Senior Activity Center will celebrate its 52nd Birthday with a drive-through event in their parking lot this afternoon. It runs from 1 to 3 pm. It will feature cake, goodies, a mask contest, music at 1:45 pm and more. Center Executive Director Noreen Johnson says it’s being observed with COVID-19 precautions in mind so you don’t even have to get out of your car to share in the cake and goodies if you choose. Face masks will be worn as one of those precautions.
