Soft Skills Are Important In Business
Envision Greater Fond du Lac Business Intelligence Specialist Elle Moore says she’s glad to see schools taking a social-emotional approach to teaching younger students. Moore says adults can learn technical skills as they get older, but soft skills are important when it comes to dealing with business customers. She says it doesn’t hurt to brush up on public speaking and the art of conversation. “Helping people become more comfortable with public speaking, talking about how to have a conversation with somebody. How to kind of have that ping pong back and forth and make sure conversation is balanced.” She says one of the hot topics now is emotional intelligence or being able to understand and recognize your own emotions and that of others. Moore notes businesses should strive for excellence in the way they interact with their customers.
