Vehicle Hits Home In The Town Of Empire
No one was hurt when a vehicle drove into the front entryway of a home at N5123 Oak Hill Road in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Empire Tuesday morning. Sheriff’s officials say a 53-year-old Fond du Lac man had pulled over to the side of the road to clean off his windshield and meant to apply the brake. However, he pushed the accelerator and since the vehicle was on the side of a hill it went down the hill and struck the residence. Neither the driver nor a resident of the home and a pet inside were injured. The driver was cited for obstructed view and failure to keep control of the vehicle. The incident was reported at 7:36 am.

Differences In COVID Impacts
A member of the Ripon Community COVID-19 Task Force says there is some disparity in the age groups and races the pandemic seems to have the most impact on. Jeff Puhlmann-Becker says older adults especially those in Senior assisted living facilities seem to have the highest morbidity rate. “We know nursing homes morbidity rate in nursing and long-term care facilities is by far the highest, fewest numbers perhaps, but by far the highest population and percentage that is affected and dying.” He says people of color are also disproportionately affected as well. Puhlmann-Becker says the age group with a growing number of coronavirus cases is those from 20 to 29 years of age. But he says that is also an age where there is more socializing in bigger settings.
