Appleton Man Facing Charges For Fatal FDL County Accident

An Appleton man is facing 10 felony charges for allegedly driving drunk on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County July 19th and rolling an SUV over killing two passengers and injuring two others. Among the charges Samuel Coppersmith is facing are two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Bond was set at $150,000 cash for Coppersmith who turns 21-years-old next Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 7th. Forty-nine-year-old Nana Yaw Yeboah and 22-year-old Malik Bridges died at the scene. Nineteen-year-old Tiarah Stewart, 26-year-old Deandre Love, and Coppersmith were taken to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah following the accident. All five are from Appleton.  Coppersmith has a previous OWI conviction from April of 2017. According to the criminal complaint the SUV was registered to one of the passengers.
