Ballweg Running For State Senate Seat
30 July 2020 News
State Senate candidate Joan Ballweg says the effects of COVID-19 will affect the state budget moving forward. Ballweg currently represents the 41st State Assembly District and is one of two Republicans running for the 14th State Senate District seat. She says revenues will be down with people out of work and businesses closed due to the global pandemic there will be less tax revenue and sales tax. She says it’s going to require belt-tightening on government levels to get through much the way that individual families have had to do it. “It’s been a real struggle for those who have been furloughed or their companies and businesses that they work for or that they own have had to close. We’ve had a real struggle in our unemployment agency in Madison is not doing the job.” The Republican state lawmaker from Markesan says people have also struggled with mental health issues during the current pandemic. Ballweg feels her with her experience representing the 41st Assembly District she will be able to hit the ground running if she is elected to the Senate seat.
