Unemployment Benefit Ending

The CEO and President of Envision Greater Fond du Lac says the unemployment rate dipping to 8 percent in the state in June is good news in the wake of the coronavirus. Sadie Parafiniuk says we still have a long way to go before we reach pre-pandemic numbers. Meanwhile she says those relying on the extra $600 in unemployment they are receiving from the Federal Government now won’t have that benefit for much longer. “You know if you’re still part of that 8 percent unemployed and depending on that extra COVID benefit you might have to plan that that is going to go away.” In fact that benefit will end July 25th. Parafiniuk says there are jobs out there especially in the manufacturing sector. She says those employers are still facing workforce shortages notably for skilled positions.
