Vice President Pence Visits Ripon

18 July 2020 News

Vice President Mike Pence touted President Trump’s election campaign before a small gathering at Ripon College in Ripon Friday. Several times he mentioned Ripon being the birthplace of the Republican Party. But he also laid out the difference between President Trump and Democratic challenger former Vice President Joe Biden saying the difference between the two was a road to freedom and opportunity with Trump and one of socialism and decline with Biden. Pence said Americans do not have to choose between supporting law enforcement or African Americans and minorities. “It’s a false choice to think that we have to choose between supporting law enforcement and supporting our African Americans neighbors and friends. Under President Donald Trump we will support law enforcement, improve public safety and stand with African American families and all our minorities to improve the quality of life.” Pence also talked about the current challenge with the pandemic, the economy, the Wall, and tax cuts under Trump. Those attending were required to wear masks and seating was limited. Supporters and protestors gathered at several sites in the city during Pence’s visit including the American Legion Post, Little White School House, and outside the hall where Pence spoke.
