FDL Man Found Guilty Of Substantial Battery

A Fond du Lac County jury recently found a 45-year-old Fond du Lac man guilty of beating a neighboring apartment dweller with a pole. Specifically the jury found Cyrus Elworth guilty of substantial battery and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon. He was found not guilty of obstructing an officer. Elworth will be sentenced on September 4th.  The neighbor initially called police when Elworth took items from his apartment. According to the criminal complaint a few months later when the victim was leaving his apartment Elworth hit him with a wooden pole in the back of the head and continued to strike him with it. The victim managed to escape.  An attempted 1st degree intentional homicide charge was dismissed on a prosecutor’s motion.
