Floyd Protests In Wisconsin

Protestors in Wisconsin joined those from around the nation Sunday in protesting the police custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Protests in area were held in Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, and Oshkosh and were for the most part peaceful. Protestors in Fond du Lac marched down Johnson Street while protestors in Oshkosh lay on the ground for 8 minutes signifying the time Floyd spent on the ground while a police officer knelt on his neck. More than 4,100 have been arrested across the country for violence during other protests.
Sunday Governor Tony Evers authorized the Wisconsin National Guard to support the Madison community’s response to agitators that disrupted peaceful protests. A second night of protests in Madison Sunday that became violent resulted in 15 arrests. Milwaukee instituted a curfew after more than 60 arrests and over 20 businesses were vandalized over the weekend.
