Nobody did anything to get fired or lose a sponsor in this week’s edition of NASCAR virtual racing.  William Byron won his second consecutive NASCAR virtual race on Sunday by holding off Timmy Hill — the driver who moved him out of the way to win an earlier iRacing event — in a race low on dramatics.

The NFL will hold a practice remote draft today, three days before the real thing is done in the same way. Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn on Friday did not provide details on the proceedings — except what his team has planned.  Commissioner Roger Goodell ordered all team facilities closed in March, and later required club personnel to conduct the draft from their homes. Because of the reliance on free-flowing communication, the league decided to stage a mock draft to ensure all goes smoothly this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had trade discussions with other teams about running back Leonard Fournette, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.

The Jaguars have until May 4 to exercise their fifth-year option on Fournette, who is scheduled to make $4.16 million in base salary in 2020.   Fournette ran for a career-high 1,152 yards and caught a team-high 76 passes last season while scoring only three touchdowns. His 1,674 yards from scrimmage ranked sixth in the NFL in 2019. After missing 11 games in his first two campaigns, Fournette proved last season he could stay on the field, missing only Week 17 because of an illness.  Earlier this week, Fournette said on social media that he wanted the Jaguars to sign free-agent quarterback Cam Newton.

Novak Djokovic said he faces a dilemma if it becomes compulsory for players to get vaccinated before they can return to competing, as he is opposed to vaccinations.  Much of the sporting calendar has been halted as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the world.   Medical experts have said that vaccines against the respiratory virus would not be ready until next year, raising doubts whether any further tennis tournaments can be contested this year.  This year’s Wimbledon championships have been cancelled for the first time since World War II, while the French Open, originally due to be held from May 24-June 7, was rescheduled for Sept. 20-Oct. 4, shortly after the end of the US Open
