Bellin Run officials announced it will be a virtual-only event as Bellin Health dedicates all available resources to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individuals who have already registered for this year’s event may choose to transfer to the Virtual Bellin Run, defer their registration to the 2021 event or receive a refund by going to the website.

The Bellin Run is not the first race to go virtual. Other races in the community are moving to virtual races, including the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon.

Just days after Christian Kirksey signed with the Green Bay Packers, the team’s newest linebacker, is already leaving his mark on the community. Christian Kirksey, who spent the past six seasons with the Cleveland Browns, hasn’t even played a down in Green Bay yet, but that’s not stopping him from helping his new community. The linebacker, who signed with the Packers back on St. Patrick’s, Day recently made a food donation to Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.

With the help of his PR team, Kirksey purchased a hundred jars of peanut butter, a hundred cans of tuna, and a pallet of water for the food pantry to hand out.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Tuesday that the League is exploring every reasonable option for resuming the 2019-20 season and ensuring that it is ready to fully spring into action as soon as the “green light” is given by authorities and medical professionals.

Commissioner Bettman said he hopes to know more by the end of April. The NHL season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

If the NHL can come back this season, Commissioner Bettman said the players will require “at least a couple of weeks” to get ready.

Commissioner Bettman said he believes the window for the NHL season can extend “well into the summer” in part because NBC, the League’s U.S.-based national television partner, has an opening in August because the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were postponed.

He said he’s not concerned about ice conditions if games must be played in July and August.

Putting all 30 teams in the Phoenix area this season and playing in empty ballparks was among the ideas discussed Monday by Major League Baseball and the players’ association.

The sides held a telephone call to talk about paths forward for a season delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but no details were announced.

Ideas are still in the early stage, and the Arizona option would have many obstacles to overcome. Baseball officials intend to study which options may be viable.   Half of the MLB clubs hold spring training in Arizona, the other half in Florida.

Arizona’s advantage is 10 spring training ballparks plus the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field all within about 50 miles. Florida’s spring training ballparks are spread out by as much as 220 miles.

Baseball’s season had been set to start March 26 but spring training was halted on March 12. After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended restricting events of more than 50 people for eight weeks, MLB said it would not open until mid-May at the earliest.

Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Jon Daniels said MLB is examining different options and he didn’t want to speculate. The players’ association would want to survey its members to determine whether they would support such a plan,

Both sides have agreed to attempt to play as full a season as is possible, and this plan would enable the season to start while waiting for health and government officials to determine whether it is safe to resume play in regular-season ballparks, with the travel that would entail.

The Green Bay Packers announced on Monday that they are inviting students to take part in the #StayHomeStayStrong Sweepstakes for the chance to win some prizes and stay active during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the organization, students and parents of students are asked to tweet photos or videos of themselves, their kids, or another family member staying active while staying at home and use the hashtag #StayHomeStayStrong, then they must tag the Green Bay Packers handle, @packers.

The Green Bay Packers note that students of all ages can enter, but if the student is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian can only post photos or videos on their behalf.
