Two Structure Fires Result From Controlled Burns

6 April 2020 News

Despite a Department of Natural Resources burn ban two separate controlled burns in Fond du Lac County Sunday resulted in minor damage to a garage and tool shed.  The first fire call was at 3:14 p.m. The homeowner at W4503 County Highway Y in the Town of Byron, Gloria Sampson, was able to put a fire in a garage with a garden hose. Embers from a burning brush pile started the fire. The second call at 4:57 p.m. was to an abandoned home at N1409 Mill Pond Road in the Town of Auburn. Embers from a brush fire ignited a small tool shed causing minor damage to it.  The fire is not considered suspicious. Only recreational burns following guidelines of local ordinances are allowed.
