Grant Running For Mayor In Ripon

1 April 2020 News

Ted Grant of Ripon says he’s always followed politics, now he’d like to have a role in it. Grant is one of two candidates running for Mayor on April 7th. He and his wife own Grant’s in downtown Ripon a shipping and packaging business. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1996 and has lived in the city for 29 years. He says he got some coaxing to run for Mayor. He has served on the Library Board and also for the Business Improvement District. He feels there could be improvements in efficiency in city departments. “Nothing big, nothing sweeping but if one department in the government can do something better than the department that is currently doing it and do it more efficiently transfer the load to that and give the department that is having that load taken off a different duty to do it instead.” He’d like to reduce the amount of energy used by the city by for instance switching to LED lighting, which he feels will reduce costs as well. Grant also wants to work with the Chamber and bring more business and industry to Ripon. He and his wife and their three daughters live in Ripon.
