Among those putting out a positive message and preaching precaution during the coronavirus pandemic is former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre. In a video released on the Packers’ Twitter page the 3-time MVP said in part: “It’s unprecedented what is going on, not only in this country, but across the world. But it will pass as we all know. Just like all the other things this country has gone through. We will get through it. And I think the only way we get through it is by getting through it together. And we need to try to follow the rules and guidelines that are set forth for us. Social distancing can be difficult, but needs to be done. So lets join together, lets fight this, lets by smart. God bless, take care, keep the faith.”
The Green Bay Packers lost another player to free agency over the weekend. Linebacker B.J. Goodson signed a deal with the Cleveland Browns Friday. Green Bay acquired him in a trade with the New York Giants last September. In 2019 he played in 15 games with the Packers, nine as a starter.
It is official Tom Brady signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend. He is set to make $60 million, with $50 million in guarantees. Now the only question is whether the Bucs’ Chris Godwin will give up his Number 12. Brady wore the number for 20 seasons, but with the New England Patriots. Patriots owner Robert Kraft took out a newspaper ad in Tampa Bay to thank his former quarterback and let Tampa Bay know “They got a good one.”
The NFL has announced its leaving Las Vegas for the 2020 draft. Fears over the COVID-19 virus sparked the decision. The draft will be conducted from a studio, but that location has not been announced. All public activities surrounding the draft had already been cancelled. The draft is scheduled for April 23rd through the 25th.
In the only professional competition in North America over the weekend, Denny Hamlin edged out Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win the NASCAR Pro-Invitational.
