The NFL has its first positive case of COVID-19. New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton has tested positive. The Super Bowl winning coach had been experiencing some fatigue. Three players in the NBA have tested positive for the virus that includes two Los Angeles Lakers players and a Boston Celtics player. The Lakers players were not identified. Guard Marcus Smart was the Celtics player who tested positive.
The Green Bay Packers Thursday reached contract terms with Safety Will Redmond. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst announced the signing. Redmond will be in his fifth years with the team. He has played in 18 regular season games with four starts over the last two seasons and appeared in both playoff games for Green Bay in 2019.
Former Green Bay Packers Linebacker Clay Matthews tenure with the Los Angeles Rams lasted only one season. Matthews had eight sacks in the 13 games he played last season. He was released by the Rams who also released Running Back Todd Gurley who needed to make room under the salary cap to pay for big contract extensions for Quarterback Jerod Goff and Defensive Lineman Aaron Donald.
In Major League Baseball the Boston Red Sox have announced that pitcher Chris Sale needs Tom John surgery.
