Washington County Murder Investigation

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday morning arrested a 50-year-old Town of Kewaskum woman for the death of her husband. The woman called 911 about 9:20 that morning. When deputies arrived they found her 43-year-old husband dead inside the home. He suffered a stab wound during an altercation with her. She was taken to the County Jail and a first degree intentional homicide charge is being requested against her. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Kewaskum Police and Fire Departments, the State Patrol, and the County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Beaver Dam Woman Arraigned On Reckless Homicide Charge

The 28-year-old Beaver Dam woman charged with reckless homicide in the death of her two-year-old son was arraigned this week in Dodge County court. Amanda Trost entered a not guilty plea to a first degree reckless homicide charge. An autopsy found methadone in her boy’s system. On February 23rd of last year Trost found her son not breathing and performed CPR until first responders arrived. She denied giving the drug to him and told investigators she had spilled some and used a paper towel to clean up, which she then threw in the trash.

Ripon Common Council Approves Agreement To Help Out Business

The Ripon Common Council this week approved a draft development agreement for the WEDC Community Development Investment pass-through grant for Ernessi Organics LLC. The $250,000 grant will be used to help the company relocate to the former Market Fresh Grocery Store site at 111 East Fond du Lac Street. Owner Bryan Ernest told the Council last November the move of the indoor vertical farm could create eight new full-time jobs and 12 part-time jobs. They reached their capacity at the former Bluemke’s site on Watson Street this past year. As a pass through conduit for the business grant the city would be held harmless if the venture failed.

Ripon Siren Testing Commences Saturday

Another sign of spring beginning Saturday the City of Ripon will begin its weekly testing of tornado sirens. The test is held at noon every Saturday until the end of daylight saving time in the fall. Siren testing will not be conducted if the City is currently under a tornado or thunderstorm warning or watch. Outdoor warning sirens are intended to be heard outside only and are not intended to be heard in all locations. Weather Sirens, when activated, will never be followed with an “all clear” siren activation. Siren activation should be considered one of many means of notification for a tornado warning.

COVID 19 Public Service Announcements

The National Association of Broadcasting Thursday announced its distributing new public service announcement to radio and TV stations to educate Americans on how to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association forwarded them to members like Hometown Broadcasting. The public service announcements are brief only 15 to 30 seconds in length, but get to the point about precautionary measures. NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith says, “As America’s ‘first informers,’ local radio and TV broadcasters and our network partners have long been committed to ensuring public health and safety during times of emergency.”
